Black Bear lyrics - Black Bear

Black Bear on MySpace

I couldn't find the [correct] lyrics to this song anywhere online, so I decided to post them here. This album is pretty amazing, circa 2006, and the only reason I'm posting this now is because I'm making a B hearts J playlist and this song, black bear, reminds me strongly of him. I had to transpose them, anyway, because I have OCD when it comes to song lyrics, so here they are for the Interweb:
In the woods in the mountains
Is a good place to begin
A song about a black bear
Living in his black bear den
Doing all the black bear things
A black bear just might do
I hope in my next lifetime
I can be a black bear, too

And here comes black bear now
Crashing through the brush
Unfazed by thorns of branches
That would hurt me to the touch
In pursuit of some small animal
The food chain is a truth
And the bear has the advantage
Of the massive claw and tooth
But he'll also stop for berries
Or honey from the bees
Or nuts that he can shake down
From the canopy of trees
And afterwards he'll have his choice
From any stream to drink
While I fill up another cup from my old kitchen sink
And if he wants he'll have a nap
And dream his black bear dreams
That I could only dream of
Like I dream to drink from streams
And as he sleeps he hears the breeze
and knows that he is safe
While I'm sleeping with the fan on
To drown out my lack of faith
The simplicity of solitude is a hard thing to perfect
Stealing happiness from loneliness is not a simple theft
But the black bear has it figured out
And gets what he deserves
And the fur that he is wearing is the fur that he prefers

And when he stared across the river
Into my eyes
It made me shiver
And I knew that it was lovely
To have a black bear thinking of me
And when he thinks he is thoughtful
And when he rests he is restful
And when he runs he runs the fastest
And spins the earth right on its axis

And that's his gift to all
Showing us the sun
Keeping time for everyone
A steady beating drum
And in all the dirt he bounds upon
He'd leave his heavy track
That is deep when he is young and blue
But deepest when he's black
Because color for the black bear
Is a synonym for age
If I were one then I'd be in my cinnamon phase
Instead I am of 22 and the decades weigh a ton
This new century's essentially a bullet from the gun
It takes coffee, pot, they cost a lot, just to stay abreast
But the coffee hits my sense of loss and makes a nervous wreck
The simplicity of solitude is a hard thing to perfect
Stealing happiness from loneliness is not a simple theft
But the black bear has it figured out
And gets what he deserves
And the fur that he is wearing is the fur that he prefers

And when he stared across the river
Into my eyes
It made me shiver
And I knew that it was lovely
To have a black bear thinking of me
And when he thinks he is thoughtful
And when he rests he is restful
And when he runs he runs the fastest
And spins the earth right on its axis
You can hear it on his myspace page, along with a few other pretty amazing songs. He says this album was deeply personal, and that shines through in the brilliance of his lyrics and the folksy rhythm of his guitar.

Yeah, this song is totally J personified.

Soko - Take My Heart

You can take my heart for a walk on the beach
You can take my heart for a little trip
You can take my heart very close to your heart
You can take my heart forever if you like

But not every heart belongs to any other
You and I
You and I are meant to be
I'm the one for you, You're the one for me
You love me as much as I do
When you look at me and we're skin to skin
I want you so
Please come in
And you love me more and more
And my love grows up with you
And you kiss me more and more
And I kiss you, too
And I kiss you, too

If I take your heart, I will cherish it every day
If I take your heart, I will heal these old wounds
If I take your heart, it's to make it happy
If I take your heart, it's forever close to mine

But not every heart belongs to any other
You and I
You and I are meant to be
I'm the one for you, You're the one for me
You love me as much as I do
When you look at me and we're skin to skin
I want you so
Please come in
And you love me more and more
And my love grows up with you
And you kiss me more and more
And I kiss you, too
And I kiss you, too

(violin solo!)

I don't care, I don't care
If I'm again carried away
If you swear, if you swear
To give me your heart in return
To give me your heart in return

I don't care, I don't care
If I'm again carried away
If you swear, if you swear
To give me your heart in return
To give me your heart in return

Don't you know it's hard, quite, in the time of confusion?

I'm feeling a little off today and I don't know why.

Have you had a chance to check out the Spiderman 3 soundtrack yet (PS - It's Indie-tastic)? If not, you should head on over to this MySpace page and have a listen. My current favorite is "Sealings" by YYY. If my heart could sing, it would sound like Karen O.

Speaking of the heart...Aside from listening to the Spiderman samplings today, I've been listening to a pretty consistent soundtrack of one song: Big Chair by Travis.
Now you know that I heart everything about you
And that's why it's quite hard to get through this alone

You're the only one I can talk to about it
In my darkest night I will be on my own

These walls that we climb are hard to recognize
They fall when I say your name

Here we go
Fast and slow
On the big chair

But we don't know
Where we're going
On the big chair

Don't you know it's hard, quite, in the time of confusion
To tell you that I love you

You see it could have been me instead of you
It could have been me if I wanted to
But it wasn't
So we'll have to face the truth

These walls that we climb are hard to recognize
They fall when I say your name

Here we go
Fast and slow
On the big chair

But we don't know
Where we're going
On the big chair

Time to pull the shutters down
Breakin' clouds don't make a sound?

Here we go
Fast and slow
On the big chair

But we don't know
Where we're going
On the big chair
Read into it what you will. I've never been one to be completely literal with this, since it's kind of like dreams.

I wonder when they're going to play the Walkmen song in the Spidey movie.

Cohesion - Everyone's Got Someone

Roll over to my side
Oh I don't mind
You make me feel
Make me feel a million
A million miles an hour
And I slip my melancholy
With an I don't know
All my thoughts
and all my senses wander
And scattered thoughts they rumble tumble
Through my scattered mind
And I can see the words I can't say
Dance around my eyes
Yeah they dance around my eyes

So free my head
My heart
My self my mind
Free my head
My heart
My self, my mind
Free my head
My heart
My self, my mind
My heart knows something my head don't know

Roll over to your side
No we don't mind
An' everyone and everyone's got someone
Everyone's got someone
In the weak and fragile morning
Oh, then I've grown old
You can be, you can be my backbone
You can be my backbone
And scattered thoughts they rumble tumble
Through my scattered mind
And I can see the words I can't say
dance around my eyes
Yeah they dance around my eyes

So free my head
My heart
My self my mind
Free my head
My heart
My self, my mind
Free my head
My heart
My self, my mind
My heart knows something my head don't know
Oh, my heart knows something my head don't know
My head don't know
My head don't know
My head don't know
My head don't know

My heart knows
My heart knows
My heart knows something my head don't know
My heart knows something my head don't know
Whoa my heart knows something my head don't know
Oh my heart knows something my head don't know
My heart knows something my head don't know

The 747's - Rain Kiss

It's raining kisses for you
She has a lot to give
So keep your head up high
And take it as you live

For when the rain falls
And then it shines like this
I fall down at your feet
I fall down at your feet
For this beautiful rain kiss, yeah
Never thought I'd see a day like this
But you know I'll made a promise to be there
When the sun and rain meet unaware

It's raining kisses for you
It lives beneath your feet
It keeps you company
Til the next time we meet

For when the rain falls
And then it shines like this
I fall down at your feet
I fall down at your feet
For this beautiful rain kiss, yeah
Never thought I'd see a day like this
But you know I'll make a promise to be there
When the sun and rain meet unaware

Like Two Ships Passing in the Night

I have spent my morning doing three things:

1-Starting the frost flowers and leaves shawl (I'm on row 13)
2-Transcribing lyrics for the Landon Pigg song because someone came by this morning looking for the lyrics, and then I had trouble finding them myself. Since it's a free download this week on iTunes, I have no qualms sharing them. That was my second SHAMELESS PLUG. GO DOWNLOAD THIS SONG NOW. If you want, here's a handy dandy link.
3-Taking Scholastic's Harry Potter Quiz, hoping to get on the high scores board (not yet...I keep getting up to around 19-21, then getting stumped on a question)

So that my "morning" isn't a complete wash, here are the lyrics:
Sailed on -- Landon Pigg

Please don't do it, I say.
Cause if you don't love me, it's worthless, anyway.
Please don't trouble yourself,
You'll only go away in the end.

Please don't follow the world that commands,
Cause what's the point in that?
And I keep hoping that all of your plans
Will fall (follow?) through.

Like two ships passing in the night
We're gone
Only the moon and the stars in the sky
Did know to cry for me as I sailed on

Please don't trouble yourself,
I only want your love, you keep giving me your help.
Oh, please stop playing along,
You know, you're wasting your energy
And you're breaking my heart.

Like two ships passing in the night,
We're gone.
Only the moon and the stars in the sky
Did know to cry for me as I sailed on
Why can't you see it now?
You're reckless and in love
Your heart's boiling (pouring?) over
Oh, why can't you see it now?
You're coming of age

Like two ships passing in the night, we're gone
Only the moon and the stars in the sky
They know to cry for me as I sailed on

U2 - Even Better Than The Real Thing

Give me one more chance
And you'll be satisfied
Give me two more chances
You won't be denied

Well my heart is where it's always been
My head is somewhere in between
Give me one more chance
Let me be your lover tonight
(Check it out)

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Child...

Give me one last chance
And I'm gonna make you sing
Give me half a chance
To ride on the waves that you bring

You're honey child to a swarm of bees
Gonna blow right through you like a breeze
Give me one last dance
We'll slide down the surface of things

You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Child...

We're free to fly the crimson sky
The sun won't melt our wings tonight
Oh now...here she comes

Take me higher
Take me higher
You take me higher
You take me higher
You're the real thing
Yeah the real thing
You're the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Even better than the real thing
Even better than the real thing

Fiona Apple - Oh Well

What you did to me made me
See myself something different
Though I try to talk sense to myself
But I just won't listen

Won't you go away
Turned yourself in
You're no good at confession
Before the image that you burned me in
Tries to teach you a lesson

What you did to me made me see myself somethin' awful
A voice once stentorian is now again meek and muffled
It took me such a long time to get back up the first time you did it
I spent all I had to get it back, and now it seems I've been outbidded

My peace and quiet was stolen from me
When I was looking with calm affection
You were searching out my imperfections

What wasted unconditional love
On somebody
Who doesn't believe in the stuff

You came upon me like a hypnic jerk
When I was just about to settle
And when it counts you recoil
With the cryptic word you even love belittling

Oh what a cold and common old way to go
I was feeding on the need for you to know me
Devastated at the rate you fell below me

What wasted unconditional love
On somebody
Who doesn't believe in the stuff

Oh, well

Duncan Sheik - Half Life

I'm awake in the afternoon, I fell asleep in the living room
and it's one of those moments when everything is so clear.

Before the truth goes back into hiding,
I want to decide 'cause it's worth deciding
to work on finding something more than this fear.

It takes so much out of me to pretend.
Tell me now, tell me how to make amends.

Maybe, I need to see the daylight, leave behind the half-life.
Don't you see I'm breaking down?
Oh, lately, something here don't feel right,
This is just a half-life, is there really no escape?
No escape from time; of any kind?

I keep trying to understand this thing and that thing, my fellow man.
I guess I'll let you know when I figure it out,
And I don't mind a few mysteries, they can stay that way it's fine by me,
But you are another mystery I am missing.

It takes too much out of me to pretend.
Maybe, I need to see the daylight, leave behind the half-life.
Don't you see I'm breaking down?
Oh, lately, something here don't feel right.
This is just a half-life, is there really no escape?
No escape from time; of any kind?

Come on lets fall in love, come on lets fall in love,
Come on lets fall in love, again.

'Cause lately something here don't feel right.
This is just a half-life, without you I am breaking down.
Oh, wake me, I wanna see the daylight, save me from this half-life
Let's you and I escape, escape from time.
Come on lets fall in love, come on lets fall in love,
Come on lets fall in love, again.
